A survey by the International Workplace Group (IWG) revealed that Canadian companies save over $400,000 annually by adopting hybrid work policies. Among 257 business leaders surveyed, nearly 75% reduced their office footprint, and about 50% cut office-related costs. Additionally, 48% of businesses opened suburban offices, and an equal percentage reported lower staff travel expenses. Virtual meetings also helped 34% of employers reduce client-hosting costs.

Brett Armstrong is starting a new position as Principal, Managing Director at Avison Young in Vancouver. 

SeƔn Feighery has been promoted to Senior Principal at Taylor Ryan Executive Search Partners.

New council: šŸ  Canada has announced the Canadian Infrastructure Council, an 11-member expert advisory body tasked with delivering the countryā€™s first National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA) to guide long-term infrastructure planning and investments. The NIA will focus on critical infrastructure for housing development, including water, transit, waste management, and climate change resilience.

Construction drawings: šŸ› ļø Susieā€™s Shed, a childrenā€™s book launched at the MCACā€™s 81st national conference, aims to inspire the next generation by showcasing girls in construction trades. Written by Ken Lancastle and illustrated by Michael Roy, the book highlights gender inclusivity in a traditionally male-dominated industry, featuring QR codes linking to videos of real tradeswomen in action. 

Lit up: šŸ’”Douglas Coupland, a renowned contemporary artist, has been chosen to design the final art installation for the Gordie Howe International Bridge, featuring nearly 5,000 dynamic and static white lights to illuminate the bridge's towers, deck edges, and cables. oupland, also known for his "Northern Lights" installation at Calgary's Telus Sky Tower, described the bridge as a stunning canvas.

Undeliverable: šŸ“Ŗ The Canada Post strike, now in its 20th day, has prompted growing pressure from the business community for federal intervention, citing risks to businesses and employees. While the government has refrained from stepping in, federal mediation stalled last week due to significant bargaining gaps. Canada Post proposed a new framework, but the union demands resolution on key issues such as wages and expanded services, including weekend delivery, before reaching an agreement.
