Good morning! 🔨 Could the latest TikTok trend be picking up a hammer? A new report reveals a surge in interest among young women for trade jobs, with social media platforms showcasing the appeal of these skilled professions to a new generation.

📈LABOUR BY THE NUMBERS

Did you feel it? Yesterday the minimum wage went up in four provinces. In Ontario, the rate rose by 65 cents to $17.20, while Saskatchewan's increased by $1 to $15. Manitoba's wage went up by 50 cents to $15.80, and Prince Edward Island saw a 60-cent hike to $16, following an earlier 40-cent increase this year. B.C. holds the highest provincial rate at $17.40, with Nunavut leading the country at $19 per hour.

👷‍♀️Heartland calling: Thousands of construction workers will be needed in Alberta's Industrial Heartland over the next five years due to the $13.1 billion Dow building boom, which includes constructing the world’s first net-zero carbon emissions ethylene cracker. The project will require a peak workforce of 6,000-7,000 workers by 2025 and will create 20,000 jobs by 2030, according to BuildForce Canada.

🚨 Death investigations: Two construction workers died in separate incidents on Vancouver Island on the same day, prompting investigations by WorkSafeBC. One fatality occurred in Nanaimo at a site on Shenton Road, while another worker in his mid-20s died at a Langford construction site on Bear Mountain. Both incidents are under investigation, but details about the victims and circumstances have not been disclosed.

🦺 Hammering out a deal: PCL Construction has entered a multi-year partnership with safety intelligence software company HammerTech to enhance safety and efficiency across its global job sites. HammerTech's platform will provide PCL with better data management, enhanced reporting, and streamlined safety documentation processes, supporting PCL’s goal of achieving a "zero-incident" future.
