Leadership changes at the CCA, $7.3M in federal funding, Coast Salish traditions at the job site

Together with

Good morning! 🪝 An Indigenous tradition has made its way to Canadian construction sites. Coast Salish longhouses often feature a nail, a spike or a horseshoe near the entrance where visitors can “hang” their anger, frustration or other bad feelings. The Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project now features its own spike, reminding the team to enter the site with an open mind and heart.

📈 LABOUR BY THE NUMBERS

Working from home may be a bad career move. New data suggest that fully remote workers were 35% more likely to get laid off than hybrid or fully in-person workers. Remote workers were also 31% less likely to get a promotion.

Incoming Canadian Construction Association President Rod Gilbert - CCA

👷‍♀️ The provincial and federal governments are funding a Labour Force Adjustment Committee to develop short-term and long-term solutions to labour shortages in New Brunswick’s construction sector.
