According to a new report by the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses, small business opportunities lost in the country’s construction sector alone exceeded $9.6 billion last year. The second closest was retail, with $3.8 billion.

On the Road: The BC Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association is ramping up its RoadShow project with a new campaign website and promotional video. A high-tech truck loaded with heavy equipment simulators and VR tools will spend three years crossing the province, giving locals a taste of road building and maintenance careers.
Solid advice: Ottawa has announced the launch of the Union-Led Advisory Table. It will provide recommendations to the government on how best to support workers affected by economic change, with a focus on supporting skilled, mid-career workers in at-risk sectors and jobs.
Plan accordingly: Skilled Trades Ontario has released its three year plan which includes four pillars: supporting an innovative apprenticeship and certification model, promoting/advancing the skilled trades, facilitating research, and building a diverse/equitable/inclusive skilled trades sector.
